Travel insurance FAQs
Is travel insurance mandatory for my visa application?
For Schengen visas, yes — travel medical insurance with at least €30,000 cover is a strict requirement. The UK, US, Canada and UAE don't always require it, but we strongly recommend it for every international trip regardless of visa rules.
How much does travel insurance cost from Nigeria?
For a one-to-two-week trip, basic cover typically costs the equivalent of $15–$45 per person depending on destination, age and cover level. Annual multi-trip policies are better value if you travel three or more times a year.
When should I buy my travel insurance?
As soon as your trip is booked — especially if you want cancellation cover, which only protects bookings made after the policy starts. For visa applications, we issue the certificate to match your appointment timeline.
Does travel insurance cover visa refusal?
Some policies include a visa-refusal benefit that refunds certain non-refundable costs, but it's not standard on every plan. Tell us if this matters to you and we'll include it in the options we quote.
Please note: Bemer Travels arranges travel insurance through licensed insurance partners. Policies are underwritten and issued by the insurance provider, and claims are assessed by them under the policy terms. We'll always share the full policy wording with you before you pay.
