Hotel Review: Atlantis, The Palm Dubai

First Impressions

Arriving at Atlantis, The Palm feels like entering a movie set. The grand archway lobby, with its towering ceiling and dramatic aquarium centrepiece, sets an ambitious tone that the rest of the property mostly delivers on. Located at the tip of Palm Jumeirah, it is about a 25-minute drive from Dubai International Airport, longer during peak traffic hours.

Check-in was efficient, roughly 15 minutes, and we were offered a welcome drink while our room was confirmed, a nice touch after a long flight from Lagos via Doha.

The Rooms

Standard Ocean Rooms start around $450 to $600 per night depending on season, and they are spacious, bright, and genuinely have views over the Arabian Gulf or the resort's lagoon pools. The bathroom fittings feel modern rather than dated, and the beds are firm without being uncomfortable.

If your budget stretches further, the Underwater Suites facing the Ambassador Lagoon aquarium are a genuine bucket-list splurge, though they run well above $2,000 a night.

Aquaventure Waterpark and Beach Access

Included Aquaventure Waterpark access is arguably the biggest reason families choose this hotel. The Leap of Faith slide, which drops through a shark-filled lagoon tunnel, is genuinely thrilling, and the lazy river offers a calmer option for younger children or anyone recovering from jet lag.

The private beach is well-maintained, with plenty of loungers even during busy periods, and the water is calm enough for confident swimmers of most ages.

Dining Options

The property has an enormous range of dining, from casual poolside grills to Nobu Dubai for a proper splurge dinner. Breakfast at Saffron, the main buffet restaurant, is generous and covers both international and Middle Eastern options, useful if you are travelling with picky eaters.

Expect to pay $60 to $150 per person for dinner at the signature restaurants, so budget accordingly if you plan more than one special meal during your stay.

Is It Worth It for Nigerian Travellers?

For a milestone trip, honeymoon, or family holiday where you want everything under one roof, Atlantis, The Palm delivers genuine value despite the high price tag, largely because the waterpark and beach access reduce the need for separate paid excursions. Just note that a UAE visa is required for Nigerian passport holders, and approval is always at the discretion of UAE immigration authorities, so apply well ahead of your trip.
