Frequently asked questions
Which embassy should I apply to for a Schengen visa?
The country where you will spend the most nights. If the nights are equal across countries, apply to the country you enter first. Applying to the wrong embassy is a common reason Nigerian files are rejected as inadmissible.
How long does a Schengen visa take from Nigeria?
Typically 15 calendar days from your appointment, and up to 45 days in busy periods. Apply no earlier than 6 months and no later than 15 days before travel.
Is travel insurance compulsory?
Yes. Schengen rules require insurance covering at least €30,000 in medical and repatriation costs for the full stay. We arrange compliant cover with your booking.
How much money should my bank statement show?
There is no single figure. Embassies look for consistent inflows and a balance that credibly funds your stated itinerary, usually 3–6 months of stamped statements.
What is the EU Entry/Exit System and does it affect me?
Yes. Since 10 April 2026 the EES has been fully operational at every Schengen border. On your first entry your fingerprints and facial image are recorded instead of a passport stamp, so allow extra time at arrival. It does not replace the visa — you still need a Type C visa before you fly.
Do Nigerians need ETIAS?
No. ETIAS is for visa-exempt nationalities, and it is not in operation yet. Nigerian passport holders still apply for a Schengen visa in the normal way.
